Before You Call
Getting to the Right Answer Faster
If it's an emergency, call — don't use the form
The phone line is answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and it is the only channel that reaches a person immediately. Form submissions land in an inbox that is checked during business hours. So if a system is down in a restaurant, a server room, a medical facility or a walk-in cooler holding product, call (305) 888-2421 rather than typing. Refrigeration failures in particular are on a clock: once a cooler drifts out of its safe holding range, the cost of the lost stock usually overtakes the cost of the repair.
What to have ready
A few details let us send the right technician with the right parts on the first visit instead of the second. Useful to know: what kind of building it is and whether it's a home, a tenant space or a whole facility; roughly how old the equipment is; the brand and model if you can read it off the data plate on the outdoor unit or air handler; what the symptom actually is — no cooling, weak airflow, water where it shouldn't be, a breaker that keeps tripping, an unfamiliar noise; and whether it is intermittent or constant. If a breaker is tripping repeatedly, stop resetting it and mention that when you call, because it usually points at an electrical fault rather than a control problem.
Things worth checking first
Some calls resolve themselves in two minutes. Confirm the thermostat is actually calling for cooling and the set point is below room temperature. Check the air filter — a blocked filter is the single most common cause of weak airflow and of an evaporator coil freezing over. Make sure supply and return grilles aren't blocked by furniture or storage. Check that the indoor and outdoor disconnects are on and no breaker has tripped. Our FAQ page walks through this in more detail. If none of that changes anything, the problem needs a technician.
Quotes, estimates and permits
Estimates for replacement and installation work are free. A meaningful quote on a system replacement needs a site visit rather than a phone conversation, because sizing depends on the building rather than on the size of the box currently installed — a load calculation accounts for square footage, insulation, glazing, orientation and duct condition, and in this climate for humidity as much as temperature. That is also why an oversized system is a real problem here and not a safety margin: it satisfies the thermostat quickly, short-cycles, and never runs long enough to pull moisture out of the air, leaving a building that is cold and clammy. Where a permit and inspection are required for a change-out, that is handled as part of the job.
