Miami-Dade
Miami-Dade sits inside the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Under the Florida Building Code only two counties carry that designation — Miami-Dade and Broward — and it changes what can be installed and how it has to be fastened. Equipment generally needs a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) or a Florida Product Approval that covers HVHZ use.
Replacing a system is rarely a straight swap. A mechanical permit is normally required for an equipment change-out, it is pulled with the local building department, and the work is inspected before it closes out. Florida requires that work to be done by a licensed contractor — we are licensed, certified, and insured in the State of Florida and employ EPA certified technicians.
Salt air is the other local factor. Condensers within a few miles of the coast corrode faster than inland units, which is why coated coils and corrosion-resistant hardware are worth specifying on beachside properties from Sunny Isles Beach down to Key Biscayne.
